Online Accounts with Freeagent
The Situation
As some of you will be aware, we recently had a problem with our invoicing system – we were sending invoices out over email (hey, we aim to be a paper-less web design company!) and they weren’t getting delivered. Up until now we have been using a piece of open-source software called Bamboo Invoice to manage our invoices, and while it is a great package we have finally outgrown it.
Bamboo Invoice handles one-off invoices, but that’s about it, and the problem that we had with one of our servers not sending mails out correctly highlighted the fact that we had to look for something better.
Along comes FreeAgent
After much research we have settled on FreeAgent – it looks nice, is easy to use and handles so much more than just simple invoicing.
With FreeAgent we have pretty much found an online accountant – it works out our Taxes for us, handles expenses, lets us import our bank statements automatically and even tracks our current bank balances.
More than just Invoicing
FreeAgent also saves us a big chunk of time at the beginning of each month as it automatically processes and emails our recurring monthly invoices.
Because FreeAgent understands how to import your data from your bank account, it automatically knows how many and which of your invoices have been paid. This is also a huge time-saver, and means it automatically sends out (customizable!) reminders for overdue invoices.

We’re a creative company, comprising of web designers and developers who all love what they do. None of us really love doing the books, and FreeAgent lets us do more of what we’re good at and less of what we hate doing. It also makes our lives easier when it comes to filing our tax returns and talking our accountant through our year-end.
