Expose CMS

Expose CMS

Expose CMS is a Content Management System written in-house at Snapshot Media that is set to change the way people manage their content in a number of ways.

Expose CMS makes managing content logical, flexible and instantaneous. We’ve spent years using other people’s CMS systems, including WordPress, Drupal, Joomla etc. and have found things wrong with all of them. Functionally these CMS systems are fantastic, however from a usability point of view they are awkward, clunky and get between you and your content.

With Expose CMS, we set out to change this. It’s your content, and you should be able to interact with it in a logical, accessible way. We’re already using Expose CMS with a lot of our clients, and we are looking at ways to open-source the core application so the advantages that our revolutionary CMS brings to our clients can be enjoyed by everyone.

Live Inline Editing

The beauty and power of Expose CMS lies in the ability to edit all content in-line, live, on-page. Once logged in, users can edit any text, images or videos on a webpage just by clicking on them. Editing content like this is a much more natural approach than having a separate admin interface, and makes it easier for clients to add their own content to website designs.

Getting content from clients has traditionally been a hassle – with Expose CMS we’re finding that our clients have their content loaded onto their websites much quicker than before. The system is so easy to use that it requires next to no training from a client’s point of view.

HTML5 from the Ground Up

Expose CMS is the first and currently only content management system to be entirely HTML5 from the ground up. Our clean codebase and organised code structure lets us embrace cutting edge technology while maintaining cross-browser compatibility. HTML5 is the future and only Expose CMS is ready for it.

Scalability

Gone are the days of getting unexpected media publicity and finding your website inundated with requests. There’s nothing worse than having your online presence unavailable as a result of a spike in demand.

To counter this we have developed an automated system performance management system. When traffic spikes occur, they are detected early on and more capacity is added where needed. Our server nerve-centre facility in the Docklands area of London is 100% distributed, meaning that hardware problems are a thing of the past. Data is replicated globally on top of this, meaning that if for any reason the entire facility in the Docklands were to become unavailable (think Tsunami etc), our servers in data centres around the globe will automatically take up the strain and automatically adapt to load.

Error Handling

Errors occur in software. This is a known fact. The important thing here is what you then do with these errors. There’s no point displaying errors to a website visitor because they won’t understand them, nor should they have to. In Expose CMS, errors are automatically logged and issue tickets are automatically created. If something goes wrong, we know about it but your visitors don’t.

Catching errors in this way lets us avoid problems and even detect potential issues before they affect our users. Pre-emptive issue tracking and handling is the key to maintaining stable software.

Sounds good, I want in!

Expose CMS essentials will be released under an open-source license shortly, with additional modules (event management, custom sectors, form builder etc) being charged for additionally. If you’d like to try out Expose CMS in the meantime you’ll need to drop us a line or ask us to build a website for you – all of our new websites as of May 2010 are powered by Expose CMS and our clients are enjoying great success on the internet as a result of being armed with tomorrow’s content management system today.
