User Experience Design

For a great web focussed User Experience Design company in Leeds, look no further.
What is User Experience?
Simply, User Experience is the experience that a user has when visiting your website. UX encompasses everything from how easy it is to navigate and read the right content right through to the emotions they feel when visiting these pages.
What is User Experience Design?
User Experience Design is a method designers use to enhance a user’s experience. By understanding your customers needs (and your own) before any design work is done puts us in a position to create something that not only looks good but works and performs well. A user that feels positive about the experience they’ve had whilst visiting a website will inevitably feel much more positive towards the company and carrying out business with them, if that was the intention.
How can UXD help?
UXD can be relatively simple for small projects but as the project grows we need to follow a more comprehensive process. It has been said that UXD incorporates aspects of psychology, anthropology, sociology, computer science, graphic design, industrial design, cognitive science and more.
There are different UX services that we can provide and it depends on the scope of the project and the client budget. Generally to summarise the process it is to investigate, understand, design, test, improve, build and then make ongoing fine tuned tweaks as things develop.
Our UX process
- Investigating and Understanding
We need to spend time reading and researching, finding out about you and your users, what your business aims and what your users will want to do and how they want to do it.
- Information architecture
We work with you on the content side of things. We use our experience and research to tell you what content is needed, the way to structure and organise it, how to present it – so it’s fit for the purpose intended and makes sense to your users.
- Interaction design
We need to figure out how the page is going to be structured and where the interactive elements such as the call to action buttons and links need to go. This will be needed to ensure a goal-focused design is created.
- Functional prototyping
We create working wireframes of the page structures and incorporate the content sections and interactions to create a functioning prototype, this is used to test the layout and performance of the pages before any real creative or development work is done. It also ensures that the final product matches the layout design.
- Usability testing
This involves getting external users to test the prototype, these users can be a specified audience, an external UX agency or a UX professional depending on the project budget. Changes are usually made based on the outcome of this audit.
- Graphic design and development build
Once all the stages have been completed, our designers move on the creative aspect. This involves designing the look and feel, ensuring it adheres to the brand guidelines of the company. Our development team then create the working website pages, ensuring other UX benefits such as page speed, functionality, usability and accessibility are addressed, as well as consistently providing high quality programming.
Why is UXD important?
Your website is designed and built with the user in mind and with clear call to actions, it’s simple to navigate and easy to use. People have a better experience using the website and leave feeling satisfied and if successful a sale or enquiry is made. The aims and business goals of the website should have been met.
